The current Predator design was actually a 2nd choice.The original Predator design was rather insectoid-looking with a long neck, a dog or praying mantis-type head with a single eye. However, they couldn’t get the Predator creature suit to move convincingly when shooting in jungle locations. So after 6 weeks of movie shooting in Mexico, they had to stop production for 8 months to create a new predator and get a new actor, Kevin Peter Hall, to act as the Predator.
Kevin Peter Hall was also chosen because he was physically larger (being 7 foot 2 inches) and would appear more imposing besides the other muscular body-building characters, i.e. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura and Carl Weathers.
In the latest 2010 Predators movie, the sequel to the 1987 Predator movie, Adrian Brody plays the lead character, taking over from Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Predators movie was shot in Hawaii this time. The storyline is similar, except this time, the humans are on an alien planet being hunted down by the Predators.
The Predators movie is about a group of human soldiers and killers who find themselves on an alien planet being hunted by the Predators. It’s not clear how the humans got to the alien planet and the rest of the movie just shows the showdown between the Predators hunting the humans and the humans trying to survive. Predators was filmed in Hawaii and Austin, Texas, and was surprisingly fast, concluding after only 53 days.
The 2010 Predators movie earned over $24 million on its opening weekend and since then, has earned over US$50 million in the United States. Worldwide, it is estimated that Predators earned about US$125 million. The film stars Adrien Brody as the lead character and also features Laurence Fishburne, Alice Braga, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins, Oleg Taktarov and Louis Ozawa Changchien as elite human killers and solders being hunted by an even more deadly alien race of hunters.
